Cleaner air due to economic crisis

The global emission of CO2, the main culprit behind global warming, would shrink with three percent this year because of the economic crisis. This appears from a study by the International Energy Agency. The decline of emmission would be the biggest in forty years, so says Fatih Birol, the IEA expert in economics, at a press conference.
Birol designates that break as a 'window of opportunity' to reduce global warming of two degrees Celsius,on condition that soon a right policy is put on track.

Experts are afraid of a new crash at the stock exchange!

It was certainly the biggest depression since the crisis in the 30’s but now we see a growing gap between the evolution of the stock exchange and the economic activity. The investors are too enthousiastic about the economic growth and when they will notice their mistake, professor Roubini expects a correction (a new decrease) of the stock exchange. Last week the stock exchange fell by 2% because the American production didn’t increase fast enough. Investors stay uncertain about a new growth and Michael Georghegan, magnate of the giant bank HSBC, is even more pessimistic, he doesn’t only see a new decrease at the stock exchange but also a further fall in the whole economy.

More protection in banking area

There will be new negociations between banks and trade unions about an improvement of the information given on joint industrial councils.
The secretary of finances at LBC-NVK, Stefaan Decock, says that it is necessary for the banks to communicate about these economical en financial information in order to prevent a situation as we saw during the economical crises.
Trade unions are claiming that information about the 'off balance products' is also required because the information that was given in the past didn't discribe the correct venture image.
As a result of theeconomical crises, more discharges are expected, so there will also be new measures about individuel discharge.

As in January a lot of people are confronted with the statement of the high cost of their checking account, it’s good to give some advice how to limit this cost.
Next to choosing the bank which counts the lowest cost, we can make use of pc-banking and do all our money transfers online and free. We can limit the number of bankcards and credit cards linked to our classical checking account and choose for a package of a checking account including a number of services and cards. A low but not very effective cost is the account-insurance linked to the checking account, which in case of a decease offers twice the average amount on the checking account to the heirs, but as most people don’t keep a lot of money on their checking account, the cost is too high compared to the profit.
